Sunrise PottyDoor

While most of the doors in This Old Clown House are wonderfully solid, there are a few sorry looking hollow core doors which are in various states of delamination and decay.

As they are technically "garbage" already, we've decided to turn them into canvases for murals!

Currently the door to one of the downstairs restrooms is sitting on a pair of sawhorses. We've stripped away the worst of the damaged layers, and are carefully gluing the remains back together.

Once the door returns to being a solid object, we'll use our gel plates to create a large quantity of prints using a cheery sunrise-inspired color palette. These will be torn to interesting shreds, and those will be used to collage the door's surface into something much more fun to look at than rotten wood.

One fun side effect of this process is getting to make a lot of extra prints. A few will be sent as gifts, including one to Stefan who will send us some music in return.

We've recently finished the last of the 300-someodd prints needed for building the collage the size of a bathroom door. There's still a bit more repear to do on the door itself, and then work on the main project can begin!

After a bit of discussion, we decided to scan all of the prints before shredding them for the collage. While it will take a bit of extra time, the result will be both a record of the process and a nice set of human-made textures we can give away under an open license. We're mulling over the idea of writing our own license as a protest against the damage ai slop is doing to human creativity.
